One of the biggest concerns going into this year’s CES was the fate of Ultraviolet. I know I have been talking a lot about the cloud-based, digital download platform, but there is more at stake with this platform than meets the eye. One of the major problems for this platform is that no retailer has stood behind the platform and agreed to invest heavily in it. That is until now, but this isn’t a sure fire solution for the emerging platform.

Amazon claims that they struck a deal with a studio to being selling their Ultraviolet movies, but was unable to mention who the studio was. That seems weird, right? Amazon’s VP Bill Carr joined on stage by members of the Digital Entertainment Content Ecosystem (DECE), the consortium that founded UV.
