Roadrunners vs. Penguins

Theongoing spat between Twitter and Google regarding the integration of Google+ results into search has brought to mind, (my mind, at least), a social search fusion of yore: Bing and Facebook.

Does anyone remember when Bing teamed up with Facebook in 2010 to include information from user profiles to make searches more personal? Is the current assimilation of Google+ results into Google search not like this at all? Did no one get hot and bothered about Bing and Facebook working together because Bing was such a fledgling lightweight in the search arena, plugged (but probably not even used) by Rachel Zoe and maybe a few other celebrities, and the direction of their brand of searching didn’t really matter?

I realize that Facebook and Bing were independent companies (Microsoft owns a small stake in Facebook) collaborating together instead of two products created by the same Zion of search, but…
