As we and many other tech sites have been reporting is the lackluster sales of Research In Motion’s attempt to break into the tablet market with the BlackBerry PlayBook. We heard toward the end of last year, that RIM is not going to give up on the tablet and believed their new update would restore interest in the device. That failed to materialize.
Late last year, RIM dropped prices on their PlayBooks to $299 for all models and storage types. Yeah, like that was going to increase sales. However, CNET is reporting that RIM has decided to markdown its lower storage devices. The price drop will bring the devices retail price to $199 for the 16GB model, $249 for the 32GB model, and $299 for the 64GB model.
That brings their highest priced model $300 below the iPad and the Samsung Galaxy tablet. Now, there are some advantages…
